Maybe you don’t
think Christmas cards are worth sending. Well, Desiree Rogers
believes in sending them now. She lost her job by not sending
Christmas cards to her clients. It was not just any job in any
business. Instead, she had one of the best jobs in the world. It
is a job that many would aspire to do but only a handful of
people would ever get the opportunity.
Desiree did not
work in an old factory. She did not work for a struggling small
business. Instead she worked in one of the most luxurious
buildings in the world and her boss is probably the most
recognised man in the world.
Yes, Desiree’s
failure to send Christmas cards to her most important clients
contributed in no small way to her departure from the White
House earlier in 2010. She was employed as the White House
Social Secretary. Her boss was none other than President Obama,
himself.
Where did it all
go wrong for Desiree? Firstly, she was implicated in the
infamous Gatecrashers Security Lapse. Two uninvited guests,
Tareq and Michele Salahi, managed to get into a gala in late
November, 2009 in honour of the Indian Prime Minister.
Secondly,
Desiree was criticised for posing in fashion shoots for glossy
magazines.
However, Reid
Pillifant in his article on March 16, 2010 for the New York
Observer under the heading, Desiree Rogers and the Christmas
Card Incident puts a different slant on the departure of Desiree
Rogers from the White House.
According
to Pillifant, “She
apparently
didn't send out Christmas cards.
Or, at
least, she didn't send them to the right wealthy donors, who
proceeded to rise up and ousted Ms. Rogers, a source
told Politico.
"While
such a slight may seem insignificant, it can carry major
repercussions," writes Jeanne Cummings, who uses the Christmas
card issue in the lead of a piece about dissatisfaction among
President Obama's wealthy donors.” (Reference –

It seems as
though some of the Democrat Party’s most wealthy donors were put
off by not receiving a Christmas card from the White House. I
guess they figured that if their donations helped get Barack
Obama into the White House, then the least they could expect in
return would be a Christmas card.
Well, I trust
you do not make the same mistake as Desiree Rogers. Send as many
of your clients as possible Christmas cards this year. |
